Well in simple terms a phlebotomist or phlebotomy is a profession which involves drawing of blood from a human body. Phlebotomy more over should just be considered as a practice of extracting blood from the veins.
Daily Tasks Of A Phlebotomist:
The daily duties and task of a phlebotomist begins when ever an order is place by a physician for collection of blood samples for testing. Thus this primary function of collecting blood samples for testing begins as soon as the patient enters the room.
No doubt that the intrusion of the needle in the flesh of a person is considered as a distressing prospect. This is the job of a phlebotomist to put patients at ease while prepping the patient with a tourniquet and disinfectant and make the drawing of blood to be as painless as possible. After the collection of these blood samples a phlebotomist must label each with the correct tags so that they receive the right tests.
